    simontansek.com

    DIRECTED BY MIHA HOČEVAR, 2010

    SYNOPSIS:

Teenager Alex and his friends go to a summer camp by the river. The camp leader is quite annoying - he takes scouting much too seriously, which causes conflict, as the boys would rather have fun, try their luck with the girls from the neighboring camp, and swim, than learn scouting skills and constantly take part in all kinds of competitions. The situation in the camp keeps deteriorating, and parents visiting day is drawing near. The camp leader makes a cunning move, organizing a camping in the wild competition, where small groups of scouts spend a night on their own in the wilderness in improvised shelters. Naturally, to escape the monotony, Alex volunteers. Jake, the camp leader's hypochondriac son, and Sleepyhead, a philosopher type, join him...

    DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT:

A hilarious, action-packed comedy, featuring state-of-the art production, that will stand the test of time and bring together old and young for generations to come. Images, emotions, and attractive familiar faces will not easily be replaced by computer fakery and nouveau kitsch. An intense story that is easy to understand, which manages to convey something more by combining adventure and humor. Something more about life, competition, love and Nature. A feature which will make everyone who participated in its making proud, and which will be a source of pleasure for children and adult viewers alike.

    DIRECTED BY IGOR ŠTERK, 2009

    SYNOPSIS:

A police inspector investigates an unusual suicide case. The investigation develops into an obsession as the inspector starts living in the apartment of the deceased, digging through his life and gradually taking over his identity.

    DIRECTOR'S NOTE:

In the time you watch the film at least 20 people commit suicide in Europe. And another 100 in the rest of the world. 1.2 million people in the world commit suicide every year.

Slovenia is among five countries with the highest suicide rate in the world.

The suicide rate in my country is so high that in a group photo of any high school class in Slovenia there is at least one schoolmate in picture who will commit suicide eventually.

Sadly enough, the photo of my high school class is no exception.

  • THE NIGHT - Lat mig sova

    simontansek.com

    DIRECTED BY MIHA KNIFIC, 2006

    SYNOPSIS:

Film "Let me sleep" is a drama of three-four memories on one night. About the night that three-four people (the fourth is physically absent but with that not less present) spent together, even though they end their relationships the previous evening. Now, they don't have any commitments, free of all relationships. The story in the film starts on the morning and ends on the evening of the previous day. All happening in-between is turning around the act that happened before that, before the end of the film, even before we entered the story, so we can replace the fourth one after he's gone. It is a story of remembering, about three different looks on one night, which all try to collide their memories into one version of the night. Film turns memory to dream, and reflects surrealism of our own memories and reality.

    GRAVEHOPPING - Odgrobadogroba

    simontansek.com

    DIRECTED BY JAN CVITKOVIČ, 2005

    SYNOPSIS:

Pero (Gregor Baković), the protagonist of the film, is an intelligent man in his mid-thirties. He uses his considerable talent as a writer for writing funeral speeches. These are not mere eulogies for the deceased, since Pero consciously or unconsciously entwines his own perception of the course of events and his life philosophy into them. He lives in a family house with his sisters Vilma (Nataša Matjašec) and Ida (Sonja Savić), his father (Brane Grubar), and his nephew Džoni (Domen Remškar). Pero's neighbour Suki (Drago Milinović), Džoni's father Dzeger (Zoran Dževerdanovič) and Renata (Mojca Fatur),Pero's great love, also frequently cross his path.

From Grave to Grave is a film about people from a small town in the Slovenian Karst region and their destinies. It focuses on the basic force in the human existence - fear. Out of fear from death stems the craving for eternity, while out of fear from life stems the desire for security, warmth and love. Love is the only drug powerful enough to overcome death. Therefore From Grave to Grave is a film about the ups and downs of our protagonists' destinies and about their search for warmth and love in the absurd chaos that is life. The story of the film and its essence establishes itself through the prism of their interpersonal relationships.

    SYNOPSIS:

The carismatic theatre director and author Herman is creating a new performance, which is supposed to be better than all of his successful projects until then. He invites all of his friends and the people he has worked with until then to participate, including his girlfriend, the actress Zana and his friends for many years, the actor Gregor and the scenographer Miloš.

A spectacular performance, which is supposed to open a prestigious theatre festival, is to be performed in the open, and the manager of the theatre Lukman presents it to the audience of the festival, to the theatre critics and to guests from abroad with a magnificent reception. As soon as at the reception and especially later at the rehearsals many secrets and manipulations start to get exposed, with which Herman wishes to bring to light and to make fun of the relationships between the performers in his performance.

In addition to this it turns out that the drama text that Herman uncovered as a sensational discovery from medieval Iceland theatre is only one of the many Herman's manipulations. What is going to happen to the protagonists of this story after all this? How will the numerous relationships and manipulations end?
